Stuart Fails To Save The Universe Episode 1 Spoiler: Gary Dies

Welcome to The Rambling Tarper. Unscripted. Unfiltered. 100% Tarper.

It seems like the world has gone multiverse mad and I am loving it. 5 years ago if i was asked to name a show that would result in a Multiiverse, The Big Bang Theory would not have even been in my top 20.

If you’ve ever watched Stuart on the original show, you’ll know exactly that chaotic, awkward vibe he brings. It’s all here in spades. After accidentally breaking a quantum device built by Sheldon, Leonard, and Howard, comic book store owner Stuart Bloom triggers a massive “multiverse Armageddon”. I think the Comic Book store is going to be that focal point throughout the Multiverse. This first episode has Geologist Bert, and Stuart already in a post-apocalyptic universe where Caltech has been turned into a warlord’s fortress.

And who is running this fortress? There was only one person it could be…Warlord Barry Kripke, who has apparently been holding Raj captive for years. Ya love to see it!

But we need to talk about Gary. Denise’s new boyfriend, Gary, joins the group as they try to break into the university. And as the title of this post is a spoiler for a reason. Gary straight-up dies trying to get inside. It’s wild, it’s unexpected, and it completely caught me off guard, while still perfectly setting the stakes for the rest of the series.

Anyway, back to the episode—sorry for the tangent. A bad spin-off can completely ruin a good franchise, but the performance here was spot on. Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, and Lauren Lapkus really bring the main characters to life. The chemistry and witty banter between them feels incredibly natural.

An absolute 5-star triumph! Reading… wait, watching this felt exactly like catching up with an old friend. Oh, and Don’t skip that intro.

A flawless 5 stars.
