Arsenal Win The Community Shield

Welcome to The Rambling Tarper. Unscripted. Unfiltered. 100% Tarper.

The Champions Roll into the new season with the Community Shield victory after a masterclass against a terrible Man City who, despite having the lion’s share of possession, failed to break our defence. I enjoyed seeing a defence missing the quality of Saliba and Timber prove they are up to the task.
Christos Tzolis, who signed for £34 million in the summer has no doubt raised some eyebrows with 2 assists in his competitive debut.

Match Highlights

  • A Historic Start: The Gunners struck almost instantly. Just 24 seconds after the opening whistle, Riccardo Calafiori capitalised on a clever pass from Myles Lewis-Skelly to coolly slot the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma. The strike broke the record for the fastest goal in Community Shield history.
  • Tzolis Shines on Debut: Arsenal’s summer signing Christos Tzolis proved to be a constant threat. Providing two assists in a stellar competitive debut. In the 28th minute, his precise cross set up Kai Havertz, who headed home to double the lead.
  • Captain Seals the Win: Just three minutes into the second half, Tzolis was the provider once again. Sliding the ball to Martin Ødegaard. The Arsenal captain sold Donnarumma with an outrageous dummy before rolling it into the unguarded net to make it 3-0 and effectively end the contest
